I know this is supposed to work but is anyone here running that setup?

Any problems with it?

I just can't seem to keep the GX mech working right.
There's not even any signs of damage to it, it's only around 600k old and sloppy as a sausage up an entry.
Hanger is straight, I've checked it multiple times with an alignment tool.

Can get it working with a little bit of bending the cage but it only last half a ride before it's all over the shop again.

XT 12 speed on another bike doesn't suffer from these problems so want to try an XT mech on the problem bike.

Oh how I can sympathise with that. I've spent countless hours fettling that same set up, get it perfect in the stand only for it to readjust itself on the trail. So now I've given up and replaced it with a Deore mech (it's on an E bike) and it now seems perfect.

Thanks for the reply dropoff.
Anyone else using a similar setup?

12 speed XTR shifter with XX1 rear derailleur & GX cassette no issues on Rise for 18months best of both, Shimano shifter ย nicer feel than GX & XX1 derailleur stronger & more robust than Shimano

Yup, been using an XT mech with an otherwise Sram GX 12sp drivetrain for a few years on my trail bike, works fine.

Wrong way round for what I'm looking for.
@greyspoke
Do you set the B gap to the line on the XT mech?

You've nailed the issue I think - your GX Mech is sloppy and needs swapping for something that will do the job. I ran GX with a Shimano shifter for a good while, no problems. I am told that there is a subtle difference in ratios which means it will never be perfect, but I struggled to find any difference between that setup and an all-Shimano 12 speed drivetrain.

I have done it your way round GX shifter & Xt rear derailleur & it was poor ย would not shift smoothly though all of the gears would ย jump despite adjustments ย  ย so swapped to the other way round . have also run it with a Sunrace rear derailleur all been with GX cassettes. One helpful point the Shimano derailleur needs a longer chain than Sram to run smoothly 1 set links

@transition1
No worries.
I was aiming more for anyone with any Shimano mech running on everything else GX.

I might actually try and warranty it.
Seems pretty bad performance for something that's done so little.

Yep. Ywo GX shifters, GX 12 cassettes, Sram chain and deore mechs. Work perfectly.

Cheers all.
Problem solved at least shot term as the good folks at Race Co Cycles are sending me a warranty replacement.
If that plays up again I'll throw an XT on.

Just fitted the warranty replacement so lets see how long it lasts this time.
By way of a bonus Rich sent me an XO1 mech.
Top service from RaceCo Cycles.
