Bl00dy grrrgrrrr grrr aahhhaaahah!
Last weekend on Mendip rocks, this weekend on Dartmoor rocks.
In both cases the tip of the derailer clipped square onto rocks, pushing it back against the chain-tension. And the hanger sheared. It tends to happen when on techy bits when I'm on the pedals. This weekends snap seemed to have scarred the drop-out a bit too.
a) I need a medium derailer
b) I need to remember to shift so that the derailer is tucked away on rocky bits
c) I need to stop riding like an deranged wilderbeest and take the derailer into account when picking lines.
really annoying
arrgggghhh
would be alright if they didnt cost an arm and a leg!
£20 for a piece of aluminium,
i know they are meant to bend but i wish they didnt 🙂

For that very reason I've switched from SRAM, whose rear mechs stand very proud of the bike's profile, to Shimano SLX. Have stopped bending rear mech hangers!
