Decided to start racing XC and want to spend some decent £'s on a light XC hardtail but am not sure what to get.

Been looking at the Giant XTC Alliance Zero or Specialized Stumpjumper HT Comp 2009 or Specialized Stumpjumper HT Expert 2009.

But could do with advice from people who actually race.

I'm 5ft 10" if that helps and 11.5 stone.

Buy a Hasa carbon frame off eBay, get some SIDs, some American Classic/Stans wheels, some light finishing kit including foam grips, flat bars and bar ends. Sorted.

Hasa frame looks nice, but no disc mount on the back.

Yes they do:

If I wanted a hardtail you're not gonna go wrong for £300!

Is that yours? If so, what do the scales say?

This for £1400 http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/rockrider-8-xc-34964195/

Crossmax SLR (£600 alone), XT/XTR, Juicy 7 Carbon, Reba Teams and a set of 700cc training wheels - you could buy the carbon frame and it would still come to £1700

Cube LTD Race.

Had one three years ago before they got bigger here in the UK.

Light, fast, great spec...

This (GT Carbon Pro 2009 medium), £1100 (sorry for blatant plugging)
Can even provide original receipt and get the warranty transferred (i know the shop owner)

Very weighty wheels, and not particularly well specced, a nice bike, but not for XC racing.

A number of people on Weight Weenies have the Hasa frames, they do look good, 940g road frame too, I'm sorely tempted!

What's your inside leg?
I have a Merida FLX 5000 with full XTR kit that I am looking to sell.

Ti29er, 31"
I normally ride a medium frame.
Do you have more details on the FLX5000?
