Is the pitch for XTR 12 spd and Eagle the same?

Do you think it might be possible to use non-Shimano cassettes with XTR shifter and mech, to avoid buying new wheels/hubs?

The pitch for Eagle is the same as a single speed bike and a BMX.

No, the pitch for eagle was "now it's goes up to 12 (and 50)", obviously that's not true of SS or bmx so it can't be the same.

I'd guess Kelvin means sprocket spacing. I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere but I hope it will be. Given the design constraints I can't see them being that different.

Don't see why not - Sunrace have a 12 speed cassette that is apparently SRAM and Shimano compatible.

Shouldn't be any different from mixing 10 or 11 speed cassettes between manufacturers. Won't the pitch be the same as to fit a 'standard' 12 speed chain?

Or am i missing the point?

I thought I'd seen something on weight weenies suggesting they were different.

Shame as a light weight eagle cassette with xtr shifting would be lovely.

Nope you're not, brant and i are being deliberately obtuse, the op clearly means sprocket spacing.

I can imagine the spacing being deliberately wrong to prevent cross compatibility as shimano have gone to the trouble of developing a new freehub rather than using XD so need to force the issue, but that's conjecture on my part.

I apologise for my misuse of terminology, and will make a peace offering to the great god Shelden Brown.

Anyway …  spec readers … do the cassettes look interoperable between XTR12 & Eagle?

using google and some persistence I found these numbers for spacing:

SRAM 3.65mm

Shimano 3.55mm

which would mean a difference of about 1mm across the whole block.

FWIW I run a sunrace 11-50 (12 spd) Shimano hub with Sram XO (and swap out with wheels with an xd driver and Sram 10-50 cassette) with a couple of turns of the b-screw it’s fine.

But Sram is the only 12 speed so far. Therefore, I'd expect the Sunrace 12 speed cassette to be made to that spacing.

Perhaps we might see people making 12 speed cassettes in Sram and Shimano options.

Okay, so, on paper it's "almost" the same. Best wait for people to try it out then…  who's going to be the guineapig?

If there's a difference, it will be for good reason. I'd wager that "good reason" is incompatability

Is there a spacing difference between 11spd SRAM and Shimano?

No, 11 speed is the same spacing. I ran XXTR for a while.
