As the title says

Will it work or will i have shifting issues?

Bike currently has an Sram X01 11speed rear mech and a Sram X01 11 speed shifter

Id like to replace the X01 shifter with a Shimano XT or SLX shifter so i can have the Shimano push/pull shift rather than the Sram push/push shift

Nope, sorry.

Sram and shimano have different pull ratios so it wont work.

Not sure if 11sp is different to 12, but I have an xtr shifter on X01 eagle rear mech, cassette and chain.

Took a bit of setting up but works perfectly and drops into all gears nicely with no hesitation or clattering.

Much prefer the shimano shifter action, hence my change.

12 speed does, 11 speed doesn't.

Oddly enough, I ran an SLX 11sp shifter with an 11sp GX mech for about a year with an SLX 11 sp cassette. It worked perfectly.

No I wasn't. I was running an SLX 11 sp shifter on a 12sp GX mech.

Yes, it works fine. I have an 11spd XT shifter and an 11 spd X0 mech and it works perfectly. I'm very particular about my gears (I don't think Shimano 12 speed plays properly with SRAM Eagle cassettes whereas most people seem to think it's fine - to me it felt like shifting on a supermarket bike) and have no issue with it.

My Xtr 12 speed shifter and sram x01 eagle everything else is probably the sweetest shifting I’ve ever had.

No messing about at all and always goes into the selected gear instantly, irrespective of load.

My other bikes have all shimano and sun race cassettes. These work well but the 10sp wide range sun race cassette seems to miss shifts in the middle of the cassette every so often. Easily sorted with an extra shift and then one in the opposite direction, but it’s annoying at times.

So it seems some people say its a no go and others say its fine

Looks like ill just have to buy a 2nd hand shifter and give it a try

Definitely, I've run XT 11 speed shifter with a X01 rear mech and XD cassettes without any noticeable issues.

And i'm currently running X01 shifter, X01 mech and Sunrace Cassette, fine.
