Does anyone think the Addix version of the Magic Mary isnt as good as the old version? Just feels a bit dead in feel to me.
Im running a 27.5 x 2.8 version. Have to run it at 13psi for it to feel ok
The new schwalbe "super" carcasses are all over the place tbh, sounds like it might be that rather than the addix?
(I'm not sure addix really made a lot of difference, I had an addix and an older model rock razor and they might as well be the same tyre for all I can tell)
I'll be honest and say I can't tell the diff between my soft addix Mary and the supergravity version.
Im going back to when the Magic Mary was pacestar snakeskin. So much better than the addix versions.
They never made a 2.8 magic mary in that combo though did they?
(Pacestar genuinely seems to be the same as blue addix, to me)
It won't be the addix compound. They've been using those for a good few years now. It'll be the beefed up Super x carcasses which ride a bit more firm / less supple than the previous gen ones (which also came in addix compounds).
Schwalbe beefed up their carcasses because people were always complaining about torn sidewalls. I personally much prefer my new Super Ground Nobby Nic front, much less squirmy.
I went old snakeskin 2.35 to super trail 2.4 and actually prefer the slightly tougher carcass, for me to provides a little bit more dampening and I think better grip in the wet.
Having used Addix back to back with Pacestar and Trailstar - I can say for definite Addix is better.
It's stickier, have better rebound chatacteristics (it's softer), the wear rate is lower, and the knobs stay on better!
I think the latest super gravity mm is the best yet. far more support when ridden hard, less squirmy.
I can imagine if not ridden hard though that that might equate to a dead feeling.
