I'm looking to upgrade my bike from the 2x9 transmission to 2x11. I know that I'll need new shifters, cassette and rear mech - would I also need to upgrade my crankset or will the Sram 9 speed double that I've currently got installed work with an 11 speed chain?

If the rings are in good shape they should be fine. 9/10 rings were always compatible and plenty use 10’s on 11sp. It’s possibly not 110% ideal but will work.
