He did it wearing flares too!
Made me think of the guy going down Mount Fuji after a record some years back when the head tube or fork crown give way....
Ouch.
Maybe didn't read it right when skimming but what is the record for? Seems he'd already gone 210km/h in the past.
Graaaavel record innit.
@poopscoop, you refer to this legend ๐

There's a decent programme on Eric Barone doing the rounds on the Bike Channel at the moment ("The return of Eric Barone"). 50 something and still trying to go >120kph on snow.
IIRC he has been coaching Markus.
The crash where his frame broke looked horrific.

Oh, yeah, that's the one!
I suddenly became much more paranoid about head tubes and forks after I saw that.
I still am!
What tyres for lava?

This is just madness!! 100mph on a bike. I have always thought about what the feeling would be like going that fast on a bicycle, must be awesome

GW could have done it on a CX bike
I did that at Ashton Court the other night!
STRAVAAAAAAA
I figured he would have made some aero mods to the bike?
Made it to BBC Breakfast and it's on their website. Must be a slow news day ๐
That's nothing. [url=
takes some balls!
50 something and still trying to go >120kph on snow
It's actually >220kph on snow! (222kph is his current record)
That pennyfarthing is very bold - no brakes, and pedals spinning too fast to get back on them...
He must have been braking the whole way down, the great jessy, my Mondraker is faster than that on the towpath....... ๐
It's actually >220kph on snow! (222kph is his current record)
Yes, sorry. My bad memory.
That's quite a codpiece the penny farthing guy has.
If it's not on Strava - it didn't happen. ๐
[quote=joefm ]I figured he would have made some aero mods to the bike?
It appears the record which has just been taken is for a production bike, as Barone still holds the record for a prototype on gravel at 107mph.
why did he have to use a mondraker??? ffs....now my 2 mondraker riding pals are going to be acting all cocky with their forward geography claptrap!! ๐

That crash with the forks and haunt headline folding looks bad
