Hi
Anyone running more than 100mm fork on a 2002 or pre 2006 SC Superlight? Is it possible? Is it a good idea?

Can you reduce the travel of the forks down to 100mm?

Hi Xiphon, I was thinking along the lines of whether more than 100mm travel would be a good idea on that bike.

I have a 2006 Superlight (bought Feb of that year).
I now run it with 115mm Reba forks and it rocks.

A little bit wandery on the climbs, but far better on the descents. I was getting completely scunnered with pedal strikes before I upped the travel from 100mm. This is no longer a problem and I love the new set up.

Do it!

I'm running 130mm Revs on mine and love it. They have a really short back end which makes them light at the front on steep climbs regardless of the fork you're running. Just putting the saddle to the front it's travel makes the most difference.

let me find a picture...

any excuse to post pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

The ground isn't level so took one from both sides to try to show the difference. I also have a pretty short stem, 65mm I think?

I ran 140mm forks on a 1st generation Blur (similar geometry to SL) and it rode fine, in fact much better than with 100mm.

Thanks for the feedback all. Looks like it's the way to go. Off to look for cheap 120mm forks.....
