Hi all

Looking to switch to 1x10 from a 50/34 campag mirage compact.
Want to stay with campag, so just picked up a centaur compact chainset and bb (no rings) for peanuts on ebay.

Will i need to buy a campag specific chainring, or will any 110bcd ring do as i wont be shifting on it? Not sure if 110bcd shimano/sram fit to cranks the same as campag?

I'm thinking 38/40T as i'm not that fit/light (run a 42x16 on my ss road bike).

What chain catcher/gaurds are recommended, and what do i need to do to allow for having no inner ring?

Thanks

I just run a 42t with all the teeth ground off on the outer position and a seat tube mounted chain watcher on the inside.tried quite a few chain guides but they all clogged really badly.
I'm on 38t upfront and an 11-28 out back.

@Rorschach so you only run an inside ring and use a toothless 42 on the outside? Hmm, like the idea of that. Got any pictures of how that looks?

Centaur chainset has an offset bolt behind the arm - you have to use specific rings. They cost a fair bit - I've decided either to go single ring on a non-Campag c/set or buy a 36/46 Campag cross c/set.

Will be interested to know how this works out.

rusty a mild hijack, I see you have a Graham Weigh CX framed bike, how do you rate the frame? I've been looking at swapping my CX bike frame as the size is a bit large and like the look of the Weigh. It looks fairly light and they come with headset and carbon fork for £200 now.

Also would it desticker fairly easily to go black stealth?!
