as title really, i 've never been happy with the current shock but haven't a clue what to replace it with, rp2/ rp23?
i'd like something a bit more user friendly and easier to set up.
what are all you 5 spot riders using and if i'm looking at 2nd hand shocks what do i need apart from the right size (190x50).

I have a 6 pack of a similar vintage with a DHX5.0c on it. Had my upgraded to speed sensitive valving by avalanche racing it the states. Well worth doing in my opinion.

Or if you don't fancy the cost then a shim for the aircan is about £25

Made my DHX 4.0 loads better.

Wot he said ^^^ mine never felt right with a high volume aircan, was miles better with a low volume aircan fitted.
Shims reduce the volume the same. and are cheap..

Cheers for the advice guys, never knew about shims are they difficult to fit? Still not sure about keeping my shock, I like the idea of a lever to change settings quickly but is it really needed on the 5 spot. I really want to find a way to enjoy this frame for but the current shock set up is pi55ing me off.
Cheers guys

I find a well tuned and set up shock can be left alone. Get it right and you don't need any levers.

I've now lost the boost valve pressure and volume adjustment.

All I've got is spring preload, rebound and slow speed compression. All I need.

Shims are easy to fit DIY, you just let the air out, unscrew the aircan and put em in, have a google search and there's a few guides out there,
It's cheap to try and if you still don't like it it's not broke the bank

Levers are rubbish - your shock is either right or not.

Mine hasn't been touched in months - pressure steady, rebound fine, pro-pedal off and it's just right. It seems to just soak up everything. Loco has a magic touch
