Most Desirable Brand Of The Year: Nukeproof

by 0

Your choice for the Most Desirable Brand in biking in 2023 goes to Nukeproof.

Whilst the brand’s current status feels rather up in the air – due to the whole SIGNA Sports trouble – there is no doubt that Nukeproof have a lot of fans out there.

We’ve reached out (as they say) to the Nukeproof comms and have pleaingly been furnished with a reply. So all is not lost it seems. Good.

“We couldn’t be more stoked to accept this award. Our small team based out of Belfast, are involved in every step of the journey and are a group of passionate mountain bikers who want to share their stoke for riding. Huge thank you to all you lovely readers who love our brand and what we do, 2023 has been a stellar year for us and there’s plenty more to come in 2024 and beyond.” – Nukeproof

You can partly thank a combination of Ronan Dunne and Lando Steezy (both now very much ex-Nukeproof riders) for getting Nukeproof into the top spot here. Who didn’t click on a Nukeproof edit featuring either of those guys?

More than that rad edits though, Nukeproof make some excellent mountain bikes that really gel with what a lot of regular riders appreciate. From the knockabout Scout hardtail, the iconic Mega, the enduro-burly Giga through to the gamechanging Megawatt ebike, Nukeproof bikes are very much riders’ bikes.

Aside from that, Nukeproof is a good source for essential components for bike builds and upgrades. Handlebars, headsets, coil springs and their iconic flat pedals (stock up now!) etc. And there are probably a few of you reading this who regularly wear some Nukeproof riding clothing too. Their Blackline series of trail riding apparel is super popular, for good reason.

So, what about 2024? Will we see new mountain bikes or ebikes with Nukeproof on the down tube? We rather hope that this isn’t the end. And indeed, it doesn’t appear it is The End. Good.

Orange Switch 6er. Stif Squatcher. Schwalbe Magic Mary Purple Addix front. Maxxis DHR II 3C MaxxTerra rear. Coil fan. Ebikes are not evil. I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
