Written and photographed by Geoff Waugh, Dirty Jerseys is a series of stories recalling epic feats of riding from racers across the MTB spectrum; from World Cup elites like Tomac, Overend and Atherton through to grass roots racers whose names never appeared in neon lights.
It’s something of a labour of love for its creator and ticks a whole lot of boxes for MTBers of all ages and interests.
Dirty Jerseys press release:
“Ever wanted to know what made freerider Dave Watson want to jump his bike clean over the Tour de France? Or why the police handcuffed Hans Rey got in Trafalgar Square? How about when Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja rode for the ‘Poo Behind the Saddle’ team?
“Well, the answers to these questions and many more are to be found in a new book called ‘Dirty Jerseys – the Art and Speed of Mountain Bike Clothing Volume 1’.
“It’s not about a World Championship jersey that was awarded on the podium (although there are some in there) but about the jersey the rider wore when they rode to that podium win. Tales of struggles, fails, repairs, crashes – all the bits that make mountain biking addictive.
“Dirty Jerseys is a hardback coffee table book containing over 120 pages printed on premium lustre paper and features a foreword by the grandaddy of MTB himself, Mr Gary Fisher.
“Available to pre-order now at a price of £35, the book is expected to be shipping end of February, early March.“
