Wrap that blanket round you a little tighter, snuggle up with a mug of tea, and escape to other places with a round up of this week’s video releases.

Lost Paradise 2

Let’s start with some #madskillz. Vertigo, anyone?

“I’m really happy to show you Lost paradise 2 – filmed in my home forest this summer, I put all I have in this one. 🤟🏻We started building 20 months ago (April 2021) during a summer full of rain. There were sources and water everywhere on the ground, we tried to fix that with pipes and gravel to make a drain at some places but it was almost impossible to finish the build in time. This year was better, but this time, there was no rain. Glad that the forest have some water area near to the spot, so we were able to finish building it. Lost paradise philosophy is to document mountain biking for the community to motivate more people to ride bikes & dig trails. So grateful to have a big crew behind me, they help me only by friendship and passion, they know who they are. I hope you will enjoy the work!”

Slymefoot Slide

Next up, a total change of pace. This video covers the new Slymefoot Slide route that features in the current issue of our magazine.

A 3 day bike packing adventure in Northumberland, UK, exploring the state of English River Health, good times and a search for tight line on the River Breamish and Coquet.

The rivers that cut paths through our land are the arteries that connect us to the wider world. From birth, we learn to love these meandering and glistening wonders that our very civilisation was found upon. Yet, English rivers, that form such a romantic and integral part of our psyche are being slowly suffocated by a potent mix of nutrients, sewage, interference and gross mis-management. They are dying, and with their death the very wonders that capture our imagination and sustain our lives will be lost forever. In Rural Northumberland, two rivers cling on to their health with a tenacity that is reflected by the communities who would seek to preserve their lives. Both the river Breamish and Coquet take their places in the last 14% of English rivers that maintain good ecological health. Yet they themselves are vulnerable, like every river in England, failing their chemical test in 2019. The upper reaches of these rivers are where were headed on an exploratory, 3 day bike packing trip through the Northumberland national park, in search of clean water, healthy fish, and experiences that are increasingly rare in a polluted nation.

North River

Another river themed video, mixing it up between slow and thoughtful, and shredding.

A bucket list idea and a dream that never expected to be realized. For a long while Graham Agassiz has had the North Thompson River region on his radar. In his latest video ‘North River’ he was lucky enough to be granted permission by the First Nation, to ride the unique BC terrain. Undertaking the majority of the project by boat and canoe, as-well as camping on a small island, the whole crew were inspired by the ways of the Simpcw First Nation.

Presenting Nyasha Makusa

Bike skills and insightful thoughts? At just 16 years old? Seems like you’re probably seeing a face of the future here – will Nyasha carve a content based career like Danny Mac?

We first met Nyasha at the Fort William World Cup this year when he approached us, showed us some of his films, and asked if there was any way he could get involved with us and help spread good messaging as a rider of colour. We felt this was so important and really wanted to give him a voice so we asked him to feature in our Summer campaign, #MTB4All. Enjoy his riding and articulate thoughts.

Deep In France

It’s the best accent in mountain biking. Rides pretty well too. Josh ‘Ratboy’ Bryceland.

Josh Bryceland is one-half talent, one-half insane. Taking his Moterra Neo LT to the biggest jumps he could find, he discovered how hard an LT can go.

Jake100 100km/h Manual

Is the 100kmph wheelie the most incredible thing about this video? Or the guys on skateboards following him to do the filming? Quite sweary, if you’ve got family around.

Jake100 is known for thinking outside the box, finding new ways to do wheelies, and enhancing the bike community. Jake’s latest project brings us closer to his way of thinking as he showcases his creativity and pushes the limits in terrain we are not used to seeing him in. Ditching the tall buildings and crowded streets, he rode his bike on the rear wheel over the 100 kph mark. Watch Jake100 goes 100 kph. Jake is at the forefront of the Bikelife movement, which he promotes with his YouTube videos, his European tour, the Swerve Sunday events, as well as the charity association Off the Streets.

Right, back to whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing. Practicing wheelies, maybe?

While you’re here…

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
