Day 18 – 30 Days of Biking

by 3

If you’ve not heard of it before, 30 Days of Biking is a personal challenge with a charitable edge. People pledge to ride their bike every day in April, and for every two that do, 1USD is donated to World Bicycle Relief. This year we have six riders attempting the challenge.

Day 18

Some are back to work, some are still recovering from the weekend, and one is still out playing. Jealous much?

Adele

30 Days of Biking
Library footage hmm…do we REALLY believe Adele went out today?

It was going dark by the time I got to ride today, so I only managed a quick nip up the road and back. No time for a photo either so here is one from a couple of days ago. I do like a bluebell wood as the sun sets. Obviously.

Can you huck the gap on a Brompton?

Post Dirty Reiver come down. Sore legs and small wheels don’t make for an easy day back and forth across the city.

Greg

Greg, please give Chipps desk tidying tips. Chipps can reciprocate by showing you how to focus a camera.

Only a quick day at work planned as I had the joy of a visit to the dentist to inspect my teeth and jaw after Thursdays incident. Few easy  3km rides to and from the train to work and to the shops. Then lots of drugs and a bit of a cry after the dentist. Pain, lots of pain. Then back to the desk to figure out lots of words for Grit.cx about the Dirty Reiver.

Guess that film character

Today was one of those days when I would probably have taken the car if it hadn’t been for #30DaysofBiking. Instead, I commuted by bike, enduring two close passes (one each way), and carrying home a selection of boxes for the construction of an outfit for ‘Disney Day’. (They’re studying significant people – apparently Walt Disney is one of them. I know. Don’t even.)

Lara

A view, of sorts.

The day sort of got away from me. Still, at least the local shop has a view. And I get to ride past the pussy willow tree teeming with bumble bees.

Rachel

Are we to assume Rachel does the steering?

On the last day of our extended weekend, the other half and I took our 1980s Peugeot tandem for a spin. I later rebalanced the excitement scale with a session on the rollers.

Tra La La

There is SUNSHINE and BLUE SKY at ST Towers today, and it’s forecast to continue for ooh, two whole days. We’re a bit giddy with excitement. Off to cross off everything on the to do list (though not necessarily do it) so we can go out and RIDE! Woo hoo!

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
