“Mountain Biking: the untold British story” is a co production between Blue Hippo Media and Singletrack in association with Orange Bikes, supported by COTIC and Natural Resources Wales.

Piers Linney has recently become an Associate Producer on the film. Piers was one of TV/Channel 4’s ‘Secret Millionaires’ and is a former ‘Dragon’ investor on BBC2’s Dragons’ Den. He like bikes; particularly mountain bikes.

Piers told us, “I am thrilled to have become an Associate Producer on this film project.  When I heard about the film I was intrigued to learn more about the history behind a sport I really love. The Producers are aiming to raise £10,000 via crowdfunding and I hope many others get behind the film and help get this story told and the film made.

Mountain biking is now in its 4th decade and it’s come a long way from its beginnings in the hills of the West Coast USA. But that’s only part of the story. The UK mountain biking scene grew in parallel to the well told US tale and this documentary, directed by the makers of the successful “Bicycle” film (2014), aims to layout the complete and unique history of how the mountain bike developed in British mud.

Tracy Moseley 4 X World MTB Champion commented,  “I’m so excited that there is going to be a film looking back at the history of mountain biking in the UK… It’s an exciting history that I think has yet to be pieced together so I can’t wait to learn a little myself too.

Through archive footage of early cross country racing through to the modern adrenaline fueled disciplines of Downhill and Enduro, this film will layout the British claim to the origins of the modern mountain bike scene. Featuring interviews with legendary names such as Rob Warner, Tracy Moseley, Martyn Ashton, Carlton Reid, Brant Richards, Chipps Chippendale and many more, this will be the story of how the Brits have carved their names into history and helped shape the global phenomenon that is mountain biking.

The film is being fan funded through a crowd funding campaign and supported by the industry through sponsorship. Orange bikes are our first headline sponsor and we have also secured the support of Cotic bikes and Natural Wales who manage Coed y Brenin bike park.
