Addison Lee “Embraces” Cyclists

Not known as cyclist friendly, London cab firm Addison Lee has been in touch announcing a new service from October the 19th, CycleCab. Specifically, they phrase it “Addison Lee Embraces Cyclists With New CycleCab Offering”. Launched in partnership with SixDayLondon, the service will carry up to two passengers and one bike. If we still lived in London, we might well go for a cab home when drunk rather than a morning-after tube journey in bike clothes.

Addison Lee is careful to add this line to the release: “Addison Lee is a strong supporter of London’s cyclists and ensures each of their drivers goes through a cyclist awareness training programme”. They also describe themselves as having an ongoing commitment to London’s cyclists. What do you think? Turning over a new leaf, or another way to get bikes off roads?

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
