Kali is a Hindu goddess of empowerment. And apparently many depictions of Shiva (the Auspicious one) show him slaying demons. So it’s appropriate that the protection-meisters at Kali have named their new DH helmet the Shiva.
It meets the DOT helmet standard for the US, which means (in a nutshell) that it’s rated for motorcycle use in the US – although that doesn’t necessarily meet Snell classification. It’s a bit complicated, but more details can be found here. Still, it’s pretty rugged. It conforms to loads of other safety standards too: DOT, ASTM F1952, ASTM F2032, ASTM F2040 and CPSC.
Kali have released a video celebrating the fact, and a fun thing it is too (watch until the end):
The helmet is made of carbon, and weighs around 1000g. it’s got light mounts, removable washable pads, and Composite Fusion Three technology (better than Composite Fusion One and Two, natch). In fact, if you’re thinking that Composite Fusion Three might be a great band name, and nothing more, watch this:
It’s should be available imminently, and it’ll be priced at £369.99.
