Singletrack is looking to appoint an Art Director to continue the job of producing the longest standing and best looking independent mountain bike magazine on the market. The position is full-time and based at our office in Todmorden, West Yorkshire.
Current crayon manager Sim is off to work at t’other end ot’ Valley at Orange as their new Marketing and Graphics guy. If you think you can fill his shoes then read on.
Essential Skills

An understanding of what Singletrack is, what it stands for and what it attempts to achieve.

A belief and desire in producing the best mountain bike content on the market.

An almost obsessive knowledge of mountain biking culture.

Ability to understand, tame, placate and converse intelligently with photographers.

Intimate knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom

Good working knowledge of photography, both studio and location.

A work ethic that ensures you’ll do whatever it takes to produce a fantastic looking magazine.
Preferables

A contact book full of mountain bike photographers, illustrators, riders and bike companies. An existing stock of great images won’t hurt either.

Clean, full driving licence

Knowledge of video shooting and editing

Experience of working to deadlines within a small team.
Work Involved
-
Commission work from photographers, illustrators and any other creatives in relation to the magazine and to the brand.

Design a 132pp magazine over a six week cycle and ensure its transfer to our printer on deadline.

Produce merchandising, promotional and other ad-hoc material as and when needed.

Represent Singletrack at press events, races, shows, online.

Be responsible for and manage the work of our other in house designer to ensure they have clear, commissioned work and to help with any design issues and keeping the design output recognisably ‘Singletrack’.
