Chilterns Challenge on Sept 2nd

by 6

The Chilterns Challenge, something for the weekend.

On Sunday September the 2nd 2012, Rough Ride Guide will, for the second year, be running its MTB event, dubbed the ‘cycle network’. The aim is not only to lay-on a great, (signposted) route along the finest natural Chilterns singletrack trails, but to build on the fun and social side of riding, providing a chance to meet new riders.

Actual sunshine!

Organisers say they “want an event that enables people to ride new trails and challenge themselves, but also to have fun and socialise during and afterwards. This year we also have a 10km family trail, and non-riders are welcome to use the facilities (hall, toilets, big screen, kitchen, refreshments, playground) throughout the day, so everyone is welcome”.

Having grown up in the Chilterns and written guidebooks for the area, Max Darkins of Rough Ride Guide has included some of his favourite trails and created routes to be fun and challenging for all abilities. There will be refreshments en-route, spot prizes, tea, coffee and cake, hot showers and a big screen showing cycling films at the end, all for just £15.

Mmm... cake!

Quotes from riders last year:
“top route, Max, we only looked at our map once, and that was to find the pub”
“a great course, well signed and great cakes at the end”
“thanks for a great day. It rained, we rode, we didn’t care”
