Katy Winton’s Kinesis Stolen

by 6

Scummy scummers strike again – as British Junior MTB Champ Katy Winton’s Kinesis 810 carbon race bike has been stolen – please keep your eyes peeled. It’s especially galling as it’s a particularly unique size  and she’s due to be racing in Dalby this weekend. Full details below.

Katy on the 2012 Olympic course

“My daughter Katy Winton has had her Kinesis mountain bike stolen in Manchester this week while down training with the BC team. She is now without a bike for this weekends race in Dalby and we have to find a way to pay for a replacement. She isunderstandably gutted by losing her bike and the impact that has on her racing. Financially as her parents its a massive burden on top of the existing costs supporting Katy to race. Katy is currently the British Junior MTB champion and will be riding in the Dalby world cup next month.

The bike is pretty unique coming in a very small frame (38cm) means it will only be suitable for someone under 5’5” or 165cm. The frame also has Katy’s name on it, although I assume the thieves will remove this.

    Insurance claim?

gutting – but agree with above, insurance is crucial with race bikes. Both our race bikes were stolen at the start of the year – luckily before the race season or training had started.

M&S were great at sorting things out, although Wheelies tried to do us out of £1k – always ask for a settlement.

I’ll keep my eyes out, a bike like that is gonna be easy to spot if some teenager is seen riding on it – where was it stolen from? i.e. a van, house, parking lot?

    xiphon, that’s really helpful….

Hope it turns up or at least she gets a replacement to train on before Dalby.

On a positive note picture 3 is very nice!

The horse has gone, you might as well put forward some words of wisdom about the satble dorr.

Or stable door if my fingers were less cold.

We should make a bargain with that silly MP woman, have your dangerous cycling law, but add a clause where cycle theft is punishable by public flogging…

… the first time, second time its hanging.
