Si from Progressive Bikes has sent us over a bit of info about of a pair of totally revised Chumba Racing hardtails – the HX1 ‘do it all’ frame and the HX2 29er. For 2012 the frames have been brought right up to date using tidy zero stack, tapered headsets and an all new, freshly manipulated, double butted 6061 T6 tube-set.
The HX1 is designed to work with a 140mm fork and there’s a stable 68 degree head angle, while the HX2 is designed to run a 100mm fork with its big wheels. Both of the frames feature an eccentric bottom bracket so you can run a singlespeed or hub gear setup if you like.
The frames will be available in your pick of a black or silver anodised finish and a powder coated white. We tested their VF2 trail bike last year (review here) we were impressed by the build quality and attention to detail, so these should be of a similar standard.
The frames will retail at £399 and are available from Progressive Bikes now. There are going to be three full build options available your pick of with a SLX, XT or SRAM X9 drivetrain with Fox forks and a mix of Thomson and Hope bits.
You can check out the Progressive Bikes website for details or drop Si an email at info@progressive-bikes.co.uk for more info.
