Arrgh! I recently reviewed the little brother of this pack (the Hydro 3). I loved it. Not necessarily the pack design itself (it wasn’t bad) but the harness which clamped around you like a dodgy car park firm at 9pm on Christmas Eve. The harness is so good I rarely used the waist strap.
I’ve since been testing its bigger brother the R15. It’s a 15L version of the Hydro 3 – a much more useful space for most types of riding. One big main compartment with an old-school half-sleeve for a hydration bladder (not supplied) and then just loads of room for tubes, waterproofs, pumps, Coconut Crimbles etc.
You also get a small mesh pocket with a zip for money, keys etc and an outer pocket running the length of the pack. Finally the back is stiffened around the edge so it keeps the shape and nothing stabs you
in the back.
Overall: A lot more useable for most kinds of riding than the Hydro 3 and if I had to choose one, the R15 is the one I’d go for.
Matt
