    as apposed to else where? i had the swine flu one yesterday and my arm/shoulder is sore.when ive had blood taken its from the vein in front of my elbow.
    so why the shoulder for putting in?

    they inject into a muscle mass, not veins.

    Deltoid is used to avoid hitting bones, nerves or blood vessels. As Flasperon says you can say "I don't want it in my arm" then you'll get stabbed in the thigh or butt.

    In france it's the butt or the belly. I had to do my own belly for a couple of weeks when I got broken MTb'ing in the Alps.

    The self bit is the keyword to why you used your belly and not your deltoid.
