Well not really, there’s a shop round here which sells them all year round and prices always seem high! The basic ingredients seem cheap so is it the labour cost??

Theyre usually bought by people with too much spare cash, and very simple minds to amuse.

And youre only going to sell them for a week or so before bonfire night.

Making your own would be the way to go I reckon. It can’t be that hard after all – the Chinese managed it over a thousand years ago, what could possibly go wrong ? And during these difficult economic times every little bit helps. Googling ‘how to make your own explosives’ should point you in the right direction I would have thought 💡

I believe there’s laws against such things. (I used to be into model rocketry, and making your own engines was a big no-no.)

(Yes, I know you were being silly)

The only supermarket fireworks that are worth looking at is the Weco range from Lidl. They’re pretty good for the money.

a single person hand making them one in a bunker, 100’s of feet from the next person doesn’t lend itself to economies of scale.

Never seen the point in buying your own as can’t compare to a public display.

    1. Because they are made by wizards in sheds.
    2. Insurance
