  • White rims…?

I appear to have just bought some white wheels for my bike, something I said I’d never do. What’s the consensus on white rims?

Anyone have any pics if bikes with ’em on?

    I like ’em

In fact – the ones in this photo are now for sale (on account of them being 26″ and therefore now totally useless)

They roll as well as black. More expensive mind you.

Like ’em, don’t have any though.

    Yes.

But they do get scruffy quite quick.

Wish I’d payed the extra £10 to get my flows in white 🙁

You do realise you have failed / broken the rules with your Ragley?

    Tut-tut. 🙄

I quite like white rims 🙂

They’re not for weight weenies…I think a white Stan’s rim is 20g heavier than a regular anodised one.

To heavy for me there at least 10grms heavier painted white than anodised ……

My singular swift THAT IS FOR SALE has white rims.

They look great IMO, and they probably a bit faster too.

I love mine, look especially badass with a black frame.

Can you get the white Crests with Pro 2 hubs in a 26″?

I actually have a bit a dilemma with mine. I have 2 sets of wheels with hope hubs. The white Syncros DS23s and a set with ZTR355s. One set needs to be dismantled so I can use the hubs for some new wheels. Which should I split? The wheels that aren’t split will be going on a SC Blur XC carbon, so I’m tending to favour the lightweight ZTRs for that. The DS23s do look nice though.

Some lovely bikes there but I can’t help thinking that white rims are, well, a bit boy racer… Past an old Ford Capri today finished in blue with white wheels – it looked just like Druid’s ragley. Not that I don’t like the Capri, but it was a generation thing 😳

Nothing wrong with blue and white, mine before the frame swap

I’m not keen. I’d go for black rims next time.

I didn’t say there was anything wrong with white rims on a blue frame. I’m just saying that druidh has broken “the rules”. Call yourselves a bunch of Bike-Tarts? 😉

They’re going on my blue Tracer, which should look ok. However I may be swapping Tracer for an Ellsworth Epiphany, on which they’ll look utterly utterly shite!! (And probably be visiting the classifieds…)

Just had these Flows laced onto a pair of Superleggera hubs. White flows were cheaper than black ones from Cycle-Fast.co.uk

If you get a custom build possibly. Try Cycle-fast.co.uk

If it ain’t listed give Dave a ring. He builds any combination you care to think of, so if you can buy white Crests, he’ll build them for you.

Here it is. I appreciate that it may look ok but I think black rims are the way forward for me.

Can look nice, can look cheap and nasty.

But what were you going to do if everyone said they were awful, pull out of the sale?

    🙂

A demo bike I used had them, took for ever to clean up nicely. Never again.

My thoughts exactly, even though I have some white Crest rims!

Wish Mavic, etc, still made silver rims.

All wrong, akin to white stilletos.

Spank spike 35 x Atom lab pimplite hubs

I nine hubs on Nukeproof Genarator hub(Sun MTX)

Like the black ones as white rims make it look ‘Boy racer’ he he !

My rear Olympic rim is white – they were half price. Look tatty quick, heavier and noticing some corrosion (road salt maybe) that I’ve only seen on really old anodised rims before.

Meh not a fan, some of them ^^^^^ look ok but I’m generally not a bike fashion tart.

Aesthetic fans will be pleased to know the front wheel is not only black it’s a different make, style and spoke count 😯

This one is mine, the white wheeled one is on eBay. I was thinking of converting my old white rims to fit but think it looks better standard.
