    Hi,
I’m currently looking for a new hardtail mountainbike, for £1000 or less,i am 6ft6″.
I don’t know much about what specks are but I currently have a chain ratio of 11-42 and have wire disk brakes for a carrera vengance. im looking for hydraulic brakes, lockable suspension (no lever thing) and am open to suggestions. so far i have come across the specialised rock hopper pro evo 2014. I’m thinking a 2014 model because they should be cheaper seeing as 2015 models will be out soon.
Thanks and I look forward to hear what you folks have to say

What kind of riding? Whereabouts are you? How long have you been doing this?

What do you have now and how would you like to improve it?

#Edit – 1K£ is a really good budget: lots of choice!

Offroad stuff, Midlands nr peak district, properly not long,
i have a carrera vengance i think a 23 or 22 frame 26″wheels, not sure what front suspension, wire disk brakes 11-42 8speed and 3speed sram changers and derailier .
i would like 29″ wheels, good lockable suspension, a lighter bike, just generally better. unless you can suggest upgrades to my current one.
    does that help?

As a big lad fit is probably most important for you

At that height It will probably be Trek Or Specialized as so many other manufacturers do such small ranges of sizes. Carrera are the worst at 2 frame sizes in some models. But I think most of the usual suspects are out Orange, Boardman, On One etc.

I think the Specialized will be great akthough you may end up with a lower top gear

    Ps I’m 6′ 4″

Yes- the more info the better.

Do you want to race: or get fitter: or hoon about in the woods?

Anyway 29’s: maybe look at Canyon. And Rose.

In the Uk look at Pauls: lots of last years models.

Everyone will recommend what they ride: which is a good starting point.

Do you have a local bike shop? Have you asked them?

I think 6 foot 6 is probably XXL territory

I would like to hoon about in the woods, but as i improve maybe some comps but with these get fitter and faster getting more bottle. i went into the local bike shops, evanscycles, leisure lakes but they didnt have a good range in store. so left it at that

    canyon
It was a great fit and comes with quality gear.can be used later as a donor bike for better frame like Solaris etc
