  • Where's best value for a reasonable road groupset these days?

I may well be after a new groupset in the next little while. I guess 105, ultegra or the SRAM equivalent. Any of the German sites cheaper than Merlin?

This lot were competitive when I was looking last year – not sure now with the Euro heading for Peso type values

Merlin had some good deals recently?

SRAM Rival groupset I reckon. Lighter than all the shimano offerings apart from Durace, but obviously cheaper. If you dont like SRAM then I guess its not for you though!

I’ve always tended towards SRAM for MTB and Shimano for road, but for no reason other than habit and familiarity (for road at least). I’ll have a closer look at Rival. Merlun’s ultegra for just over £500 is looking tempting too.

ribble cycles is probably worth a look.

Tiagra is reasonable and has now gone 10 speed. Don’t know if the cables are hidden like 105 and up though.
