hoping some of you lovely people can point us in the direction of a tidy little place to lay our heads when visiting Glentress in March.
would like bike storage/drying room and good brekky!

Little B&B and SC cottages just north of Peebles (can't remember the name). Riding distance of Glentress. Or… the Tontine in the centre of Peebles is excellent (much better IMHO than the more expensive Hydro) if you want something a little posher!

I've been to the Tontine and the Hydro and I thought the Hydro had the edge personally.

Plus it has spooky The Shining vibes included in the price.

http://www.kailziegardens.com/bunkhouse.html has all the facilities you could need (storage, drying rooms etc) and can accommodate groups from 2/3 up to 30 ish. self catered so you'll have to make your own brekky or find a cafe. about half way between GT & inners.

What about the wigwams? We're going to have a go at them in the Spring.

Last time we stayed over we went to the Glentress Hotel. The food was pretty good but the rooms really were terrible. Useless shower, sink in the bedroom (not the bathroom) and, my pet hate, carpet in the bathroom and a stinky shower curtain. Shudder.

for sheer convenience, you can't beat

Literally at the botttom of the road up to the trail head. Secure bike storage/bike wash. Fab Scottish brekky – basic rooms but ideal for you and your muddy gear. If you ask nicely they'll order in stuff for a bbq out on the deck – fantastic!

Small Hijack: Any one got any campsite recommendations apart from Rosetta (packed in like sardines and the bogs are full of screaming kids chasing each other into the stalls) and Crossburn (stuck up with a bad attitude, don't think they like mountain bikers, even quiet ones like us)

I spy a site in Innerleithen but it appears to to be mainly statics with a few touring pitches, no tents.

    Rosetta's sweet if you're not in a tent. 😉
but if kids bother you that much, stay in the pub til closing time and use the toilet blocks for the campervans/caravans at the bottom of the hill
failing that just camp in glentress for free, there's a portaloo at the buzzards car park and showers and cafe at the bottom for the morning.
