Built a set of s/s road wheels last weekend, DT Swiss spoke calculator gave me 294mm front, 291mm rear (narrower and bigger flanges on the rear).

Front is spot on, rear has ~2mm of spoke thread showing all the way round.

There must be a decent amount of thread in the nipples, but is this just cosmetically annoying, or will I die?

    Thanks!

    2mm is a lot!

Most of the time I wind them on untill the thread dissapears then add tension.

No idea if it’s OK though.

Yeah, that’s what I thought, no idea what I’ve done wrong, never got a bum steer from the DT site before.

    (I say 2mm, maybe 1.5)

Anyone got any thoughts on likelihood of death?

    likelihood of death?

    100%

from your current spoke issue? Maybe ride them and see if they loosen off.

personally I’d be looking get either longer nipples or spokes involved fairly soon.
