I know he has been around for ages, but I started listening to Nick Cave after he did the soundtrack to The Proposition.

Not a movie but TV. Used to watch The Big C on E4 (I think) and was struck by a tune called Kinda Fantastic.

Turns out it was a Spanish band called Pajaro Sunrise. I urge you to check them out.

Lots of friends of mine got into the Pixies from Fight Club. And I’ve often paused a film in the credits to see what songs they used in various places. Can’t think of any specific examples right now, though
