I currently have 23mm tyres & I am after new tyres.

The 23mm tyres have about 5to6mm clearance top & sides.

So I am pretty sure 25 will fit.

Would I be better having 28mm if they do fit?

Main usage is a 20mile commute, with occosonal longer rides & the very odd sportif.

    28mm might be a bit snug… 25 definitely fit

25 on rear, 28 on front.

I had 25 on the rear on mine, but it was rubbing under my extreme power!

25’s on mine. Pretty sure a 28 won’t go in the back.

Go for Vittoria Open Pave, 25 or 27mm the 27 comes up under at 26 for some bizarre reason? They stick like shit to a cat and roll like sheeet, £25 each at Evans. Not sure how a tyre with a file tread centre pattern and herringbone sides rolls quite like it does but you have to experience it to believe it’s possible.

I’ve got 23mm Schwalbe Ones on mine, on Ultegra wheels. They come up at 25mm and anything bigger would be a fight I think.

    Thx all.

I’ve borrowed a continental 28 and that fits the front although I’ve not ridden it yet.

I do have to undo the brake cable to get the wheel out but hey ho.

Will try it for a ride and then see if it goes in the rear.

I wouldn’t worry about the file tread, it only lasts a few kms. Then you have a nice slick in the centre.

Not that I have a problem with that. I’ve been running Pavés on my race bike for years. Love ’em. Crits, TTs, HCs, training. They’re great at everything.

However, for daily commuting I’d go for something a bit more hard wearing.. and cheaper.
