I replaced my Scandal 29er with a steel 29er Inbred which I rode for a year then gave up with it as too heavy and harsh to ride. Got a Parkwood 29er which I like a lot better. Not quite up there with the Scandal but that might be nostalgia mostly. Medium Inbred frame going spare now.

The parkwood is more ‘trail’ by the looks of the geometry…
Different bike imo, not a replacement.

    Holy thread resurrection.

My Mk 2 Scandal’s still going strong, but I have my eye on a Salsa Timberjack, so if anyone’s shopping around, I’d say these are possibly worth a look, too. I have no idea if they’ll ever make it over to this side of the pond, but they will take a 650b+ wheel as well as 29er (so oodles of mud clearance as a 29er, and you can try clown shoes, too) and can do a front mech into the bargain. Internal routing, which you’ll either love or hate, and internal dropper routing, too. Sells (when it can be found ) for $399 in the US. It’s also possible to get both Boost, 142×12 and 135×10 Alternator plates.
