Cheers to everyone who helped me see the positives… I’ve registered, and I’m going back to uni part time!

Just been and met with the course tutor today, a 5 minute chat that I’d asked for turned into a 90 minute long conversation about the course in depth, the facilities, what it would teach me, opportunities, and generally just having a laugh actually! Seems like a properly sound guy, really down to earth and passionate about what he teaches. God I wish Uni had been like the first time round for me!

Anyway, just under two weeks to go til lectures start, and I can’t bloody wait! 😀

Nice one. But the true test of your acceptance will be if you’re offered flyers on/around campus.

Best students I met at uni were the old ones. At 18 I wish I had listened to them and gone back in a few years, rather than fannying around.

Good on you, university’s wasted on idiot kids. Just watching this year’s intake with the grim certainty that I was exactly as bad.

I know its not the same but I did a masters degree and it was one of the best things ever. Good luck and I really hope it all goes well.

Enjoy. It will be tough but take it seriously and it will be good. I did a degree part time in my 40s

I think it’s a great choice to make later in life.

    Good on you! 🙂

Who knows… they might even teach you how to type university! 😉

    Good for you!

It’s great to do something you’re really interested in, and well worth any sacrifices you might need to make. Hope it goes well 🙂

(I guess this means you’re moving away from the ‘wonderful’ world of statistics …)

Well done, I went back at 27. Your extra worldly experience will make it so much easier and more enjoyable.
A difference for me was living in a different city, commuting and treating it like a full time job.
Still tempted to do an MBA though… 😀

I went back to uni at 29 and then did a masters at 35. I am now unemployed and can’t get a job, so it was all for nothing anyway…

At least it allows me a sense of worth as I walk my daughter to and from school everyday.

I went back to uni at 26 to complete my degree evening classes, it was tough getting all the studying and coursework done along side a job but i made some great friends doing it. The sacrifices along the way although hard are well worth it in the end. Finally getting that bit of paper is probably one of the proudest days of my life 😀

Not in my case they bloody weren’t!!

I’m still waiting for my ‘education’ to pay off. And at 38, I’m not holding my breath, which is a shame as it cost me a fortune…

Sorry you are struggling to find work, didn’t mean to rub salt in the wounds, i was busy typing when you must have repied.

what are your degree and masters in?

I guess i must have been pretty lucky, i got a degree in engineering and was fortunate enough to get a better job from it in 6 months.

Geography at undergrad then an MSc in Environmental Planning. Though to be fair I resigned from my previous job to come back up north, and I was just offered a job down south which I couldn’t accept. I guess I am just bitter that A. there is sod all work for what I am trained to do up here, and B. I am a town planner, not an investment banker, so I kinda new what the salary was going to be, not that that makes it any better…

Mboy, I turned 40 last month and start uni in 2 weeks. Shitting myself at the thought of it to be honest.

Well I was an internet casino manager in Gibraltar and I am now an author and lecturer and consultant in chaos, complexity and sustainability in Brazil after doing my MSc. Some good things can happen too 🙂

Keep contemplating this myself every now and then but as yet haven’t ever done anything about it. So good on you, takes a bit of bottle..

Actually I’m going on a 4 day week, as of October… hmmm

Well I’ve registered my modules, been given a library card and NUS card, and been told when and where I need to be next week…

Now just the small matter of paying my fees and doing the studying! 😯

If you’re really lucky you’ll get lucky on freshers week and wake up in a pool of your own sick – great memories…
