Some years ago a work colleague at a previous job found a human skeleton under the floor boards. Well her husband did when he was crawling around in the crawl space. Turned out it was a previous occupant and had been there around 70 years.

My grandparent’s place in South Devon had been used as an Officers Mess during the D-Day practice sessions at Slapton and the general area. The beach had some amazing old concrete structures on it, but in the boathouse was all sorts of graffiti in chalk on the wooden walls. Wish I could remember what all of it said now! There was a game of noughts and crosses on there that I can remember, unfinished. Always wondered why.

Given the age, I would imagine that whoever has the physical certificate owns them.

Previously, a whole stash of poor quality japanes / chinese porn on CD. In a far earlier house, almost the entire belongings of an evicted family, complete with kids presents (just after xmas) and half used roles of wrapping paper. I had no idea when the house was bought (on spec from a building society) very, very sad.

In the loft a kind of mad shrine surrounded by pictures of yachts.

I found a safe and spent the next year trying to open it. Eventually got it open and found the manual and some heavy duty screws 🙁 I also found a loft full of empty PH component boxes form 1990 onwards and a basement full of late night TVinfomertial exercise equipment!

It’s surprisingly difficult to get rid of pianos in London. Especially if your front door is up a flight of steps…

My uncle and aunt moved into their new place last year and while having the boiler serviced the engineer commented on how nice their shotgun was.

Cue phone call to police to report said shotgun being found in the house and armed response unit turning up to remove said (unlicensed) firearm.

Caused a bit of a stir in the village apparently!!
