I am looking to change my car and I initially though I would get a Saab 9-3X estate until I saw the Volvo V60 estate DrivE 115bhp I had a test drive and although its a smaller engine than the Saab and lower bhp It felt better to drive, anyone else on here drive the same car out of interest as I would like your opinion.
Surely it's just an expensive Mondeo estate?

Not a V60, but I have had the pleasure of using my mother-in-law's new XC60 the last few days and it is a fabulous car! Cabin quality is superb, very comfortable, and this particular T6 is really really fast! Also drove a S30 recently with a T5 and it was great to drive too!
My dad is Saab through and through, and is on his third consecutive 9-3. The Saabs are very nice places to be, but I prefer the volvos now I think... Must be getting old! :?.
Alfa 159. Saab use their old engines and an old vectra chassis. Alfa has bespoke "Premium" chassis. Volvo is nice looking though

I've got a v50 r design 140bhp. Had it nearly 3 years, it's a company car, and I really can't rate it highly enough. The quality and finish is awsome. It's never skipped a beat since I've had it and it's just done 87,000 miles. It needed a new air conditioning unit as it cracked and failed but apparently that's quite standard for a Volvo as it's the location they fit them that's the problem from the factory.
I've had a Saab 9-3 previous to the Volvo and the difference was night and day. I did 126,000 miles in the saab, but the Volvo is absolutely brilliant.
I've had a look and drive of the v60 as mine is due to be changed again in November, and it's every bit as good as the v60, my only point would be is that 115bhp version I think will be under powered. The v60 is bigger than the v50 and less power I think wouldn't be great. I've seriously looked at the D3 and the D5 and I think either would suit me fine.
Just got a Volvo V50 DrivE, 1.6 engine 115bhp. Absolutely awesome car, cannot fault it. Brilliant on the motorway and not bad round town either.
I have been looking at the V60 but for the price you can buy a bmw 3 series touring and Im pretty sure the bm would outshine it. For a start 177bhp and higher mpg.
but the interior of the Volvo is a lot nicer place to be and will come with leather as standard plus a heap of other things that BMW will charge extra for I am sure.
I wish my fleet manager would put Volvo on our list as the S60 D5 I had 7 years ago was awesome
m_t_b on the flip side I have a 318d tourer and quite fancy the Volvo next yr when it's due a change. Not really had a good enough look at one yet though, so interested in how this post goes.
The Volvo D3 2 litre is about 170bhp though if your comparing apples for apples on the 2l engines.
I liked the BMW too, nothing wrong with the 318 / 320 touring but even with the 318/320 m-sport touring, you still get more standard kit on the volvo. The major advantage to the bmw's though is the 13% co2 tax if your running them as a company car.
In my opinion, at this price level, i still think the finish of the volvo is superior to the equivalent BMW. I wouldn't mind an m3 or the bosses m5 though!!

The build quality is outstanding it feels solid like a tank - hard to explain until you get in a drive it
The level of equipment on them seems very high when you compare to other cars at the same price
I have a v50 d3, fresh out of the box last week.
Fleet deals are awesome ATM as they know the v60 is out and want to clear old stock.
I got the d3 unit for CHEAP. 150bhp and has roughly the same c02 as my c220.
It's light chuckable and comes with luggage net & luggage cover.
R design has leather as STD - that is a £2k option for BMW and merc.
Volvo is the new Audi.
I had a drive of the V60 160bhp version 2 litre engine today and it was a lot more responsive than the 115bhp 1.6 that i will be getting 
but I am looking at economy over performance and whilst most of the engines have low co2 and £30 tax there is a price difference and I am on a tight budget and doing a personal contract hire 3 year deal based on 18000 miles per year so I can get the car for £337 per month 2pound cheaper than the Saab, the Volvo feels far more solid and drives much better and has the latest Volvo safety features so I have definitely made the right choice,of course I would like the R design and quicker engine, but i have the option to change after the first 3 months or before the last 3 months.
I've got a D3 S60 Se with winter pack, which I've had for about 3 weeks. Lovely car. Goes well, comfy, fairly economical, but still breaking it in.
Had an 08 A4 before and the Volvo is better to drive. Quicker and handles better. Gearing is a bit longer than the A4, and it wont pull from low revs like the Audi.
All in all I'm well happy with it
Had my V60 for a few weeks now and went for the DrivE version 1.6 115 bhp ES model with one upgrade which is the bluetooth sound system. So far I am loving the car not as responsive as my old Audi but handles just as well if not better considering my Audi had Quattro, its very compfy and love the push button start/stop. It pulls well for a 1.6 can't really fault it so far.
I took delivery of a silver V60 SE Drive just last week as my new company car and I am quite impressed. As others have said the 1.6 is up to the job although mine hasn't even a thousand miles on it yet so is still understandably tight and the economy is not quite there yet. I went from a Golf, but know others who had V50s and this is just as good if not better, the boot is a bit smaller than I thought, but I can get everything in I need. Didn't go for the R-Design as most of my journeys are motorways and I found it uncomfortable. If your looking for a new car company or otherwise you could do a lot worse!

I am replacing my Company car in a bit under a year and this is one of 2 current favourites, along with the not yet out BMW 3 tourer with efficient dynamics (I currently hvae a 318d tourer). The Volvo swings it on toys (edrive SE Lux), but the BMW at 109g emmissions is more tax efficient.....
