Wondering when to start my almost 3yo on a 12″ pedal bike (her sister’s). She can ride the balance bike well but I’m not sure she’ll be able to figure out brakes 🙂

We’re off to pick up our 3-1/2 yo’s bike on Saturday, he’s mastered the balance bike so we’ve gone straight for a 16″ wheeler which fits with the seat slammed. It’s also the brakes I worry about, I’m sure he’ll work it out soon enough though…. 😀

molgrips / swavis – Jamie started riding his balance bike when he turned 2.

I introduced the pedal bike (minus the pedals) at the beginning of the year, so he was using it just like a balance bike.

I felt he needed to get used to the extra weight & the additional brake.

It definitely paid off because he then only had pedalling to learn, can’t believe how quickly he picked it up.

Last night he bumped down a kerb outside the house while pedalling like it wasn’t even there……. 🙂
