    just bought a pair of truvativ carbon cranks for my road bike, and was wondering if I could run them with my existing shimano hollowtech 2 bottom bracket? Or do I need to purchase a trvuativ one?

    Nope; the Truvative cranks rely on an additional shim against which the non driveside arem is tightened on to.

    You can run Hope BB if you buy these

    But you can buy some Hope adaptors to make them fit.
