I'm thinking of buying a torque wrench so what's currently good but not too expensive?

Budget, including a set of basic bits, would ideally be <= £80. I normally buy Park tools but not sure if they are a bit overkill for a torque wrench?

I'm sure this has been asked before but wanted up-to-date recommendations.

I got one for halfords for working on the bike.
3/8" Square drive is reversible and range is 5nm - 100+ nm I think, has a good range never the less.

@bren2709 cheers I'll look on Halfords website I'd assumed they'd start at too high a NM value as they are mostly car stuff 🙂

Norbar SLO - Great bits of kit that we use in the shop all the time.

I used to favour the click in the handle type but the last few years, I've been using beam deflection type. Much quicker and easier to live with I think.

I'm old-fashioned and rarely use them, but I've got bending beam types - the click-over type need to be calibrated (and can be way out especially on cheap ones) and if there's one thing guaranteed to break a delicate component it's a wrongly calibrated torque wrench.

This.
Not cheap but excellent quality and very accurate bits of kit.

I got a Giant one which seems nicely made and feels accurate (for now!) I guess I should make a calibration rig at some point - a weight on a lever isn't exactly rocket science. I also have a 4Nm torque key so they can be checked against each other. I was going to get a bending arm type but I'd have needed both Park ones to cover the range of torques on my bike.

Got many left hand bolts ? Its not a socket wrench , it should not be used for undoing bolts.

1-25nm look at wera .

Mines are all teng but if i was buying again if go for the wera for the baby one as my teng is 5-25nm

A huge range on a torque wrench is not desirable . I wouldnt trust a 5-100nm more than my hand.

I've got one of these, £32 from toolstation, Laser brand,( http://www.lasertools.co.uk/default.aspx ) comes with all the calibration documents etc, works a treat for bike bolts...

http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Automotive/Automotive+Wrenches/Torque+Wrench+38/d60/sd3332/p22733

only goes up to 25 IIRC

Trail_rat - do you own a Commencal Supreme V3?
No I didn't think so with your comment posted, Smart Arse!

5 - 60nm range is that acceptable?
