Off there with the kids on Thursday. Anything worth knowing about in advance?

We live 10 mins away and have annual passes

Q-bots are good but it should be quiet on Thursday so not needed (hope)

If it’s really hot (fat chance) take trunks and towels as there is a water play park

Don’t bother with the train down the hill, turn left and use the steps and slides 🙂

The shows are actually quite good. (puppet show / 4D / main show)

If it’s not mega busy it’s very good, how old are kids?

it was on watchdog the other day as it had infestations of wasps, probably dying off this time of year though?

We’re going during half term as the mrs used some of her Tesco’s clubcard points to have day entry tokens (tickets)

The Pirate show is very good, but sit well back or you’ll get soaked.
Dont leave it too late to see the model layouts, we did & wish we’d looked at them earlier. Come 5pm its clear they want you out & “sweep” everyone towards the exits. Ditto the above comment on the train ride.
We went the day all the kids went back to school & it was empty. Literally on-off everything all day. Most rides we were allowed to just stay on.
Felt its more for younger kids, ours are 3 & 5, & had a brilliant time.

oh, that’s interesting, last time we went there were loads…I’m not normally bothered by wasps, but there were **** billions of them

Er, it’s rather expensive…

We were there last week and got tickets through our Tesco Clubcard and saved a fortune. We had a great time. The kids (five and eight) loved it, the sun shone and there were hardly any queues (and no wasps). Take a packed lunch with you though, food and drink is expensive. The main show at the harbour was pretty good too – I think there are three shows every day, about 2 hours apart.

Take some oners with you. Everyone always runs out of oners.

Also good advice if you’re going to Conkerland.

How’s it fare without kids? Is it worth going as an adult Lego fan, or is it very kiddie-centric?

Arrive at 9:30. Admission is early

Take a picnic, food is expensive
Ignore the train and turn RIGHT at entrance then walk down the hill past Viking falls…Walk to the bottom and ride the dragon roller coaster first. Work your way back up

Pirate falls is over-rated but you can fit five in if the kids are small. the see-saw pirate ship ride is excellent and has a short queue.

You will get wet on the Viking ride but at the end of the day there is no queue so save the wet rides to last and take spare clothes

Some of the extra stuff is worth watching/doing. The show is pretty good. Building at the technical explorers centre is excellent and the guides are always happy to see you.

You won’t get into the laser quest Egyptian ride unless you go straight there. The smaller ride next to it is pretty good for small kids.

Avoid the spider ride if you get dizzy easily!

Build a huge tower in the large tent of lego by miniworld.

The queue out isn’t as bad as it seems, wave if you see a yellow tandem!

We’ve got 2 for 1 vouchers, so it’s not too expensive.

We took our 7 & 4 year old two weeks ago, the wasps have now been sorted, loads of traps everywhere, did not see a live wasp all day.

Our two loved the Pirate show & the 4D show & the wooden adventure playground near the pirate ship.

The model world is huge and well worth seeing

2nd Tesco’s clubcard points, that’s how we paid to get in.

Seemed to keep our two very busy all day, well until closing time.

Lego shop by entrance is worth going in just to see the madness of some of the shoppers.

If we went again we would pay the extra for the Q-bots too.

We had a brill fun day there today, in the sun too!

Not mad busy which gave us plenty of rides on most things my daughter chose. Think we overdid it on the spider ride as we all staggered off that 😆

Will be defo going back, which is a very high recommendation from me as the mrs says I can be a little ‘bah-humbug’ 🙄

Kids will love the driving, and the shows.

MsSwadey and I went a couple of times pre kids when we lived down there – it’s actually better without them………

Legoland’s great, can’t add much to what has been said about food and picnics and the pirate show. If you are regular visitors, Merlin passes while expensive as an outlay are good value long term. Free entry to a number of attractions all over the country all year, and 10% off your food and snacks / ice creams while you’re there.

For older kids, Thorpe Park is the daddy. Wife and I went there Thursday while the kids were at school and rode the good stuff with virtually no queues. 3 back to back rides on Stealth was interesting. 0-80mph in 2.9s iirc.
