Its going to be one of the most interesting TT for a while
and i think most folk would want Tom after the way the others took the jersey from him with bad form rather than better legs. Added to this he did the right thing to help Nairo; he has shown himself to be an honourable gent with a large locker of courage whereas they have shown themselves to be empty in the honourable stakes.

I hope he still has the legs to do it

    +1 also

And thanks to Klunk for posting the start times – theres a plethora of sports on today to this means i can watch the MTB WC before switching to this and not miss the fireworks.

Yes that was me. Endura spent thousands on optimising everything about Quintana’s skin suit (special fabrics, placement, seams, etc.) so going to the Giro sponsors suit, despite it being made for him, will still cost him seconds.

Surely he could bring his own pink suit along – once you’ve developed a posh material it can’t be that hard to make a different coloured one, can it ?
(after all, we’d all have been expecting NQ to be in pink and needing to defend)

Grrrrr TT’s boring as watching paint dry.

But this I’ll watch the last hour of, Obvz.

Santini pay a lot of money to sponsor the jerseys. I believe you have to wear the official sponsors suit if you are in a jersey.

so were looking at 34 mins @ 51kph, is it long enough for tom to gain the time ?

    mrblobby
    Free Member

Last TT was 50 mins and Tom put 2 mins into Nibali, Zakarin, Mollema, Pinot and Quintana. Speeds are higher so the gaps will be smaller but a minute isn’t an unreasonable expectation in about 35 mins.

2seconds/km is what people keep quoting Dumopoo will put into NQ

1.8 s/km is what he needs to put into Quintana if he is to overhaul his lead. I think he managed over 4 s/km in the previous ITT.

those bonus seconds from yesterday would have been very useful

Flat/gentle decline and high speeds mean that power and aero are the major things – no incline to give the lighter rider any help.

    I’m going 2 minutes TD > NQ

    <crosses fingers>

Thing is at those speeds aero is a huge factor and Quintana is tiny and an awful lot of work has gone into making him very slippy. Dumoulin would probably prefer a rolling course.

Pure power course imo, and TD has ~100W more to play with

    Jos Van Emden 6.1

not to forget theres another 2 riders for Tom to worry about (not including those behind).

Tom really should do it… but Quintana has pulled out some surprisingly good TT results late into stage races.

not to forget theres another 2 riders for Tom to worry about (not including those behind).

And Pinot is a better time triallist than the last TT stage suggests. He had a shocker. I reckon he’ll beat Nibali into second place with Quintana down in fourth or maybe even 5th if Zakarin has a really good one.

van emden is absolutely battered – that’s a good benchmark for the day, 33.08

as an aside for those watching on Eurosport, why do they keep advertising the Tour of Azkaban which according to the advert finished 3 weeks ago?

Get rid of it, show the one from the Israeli tourist board a bit more (in general I don’t like ‘Israel’ but for some reason I enjoy the advert)

can’t possibly think what that reason would be… 😀

I’m hoping the instagrammer who came up with that idea was involved or credited

    … had forgotten that – Yates/Jungels. That’s a tough one for Yates

Yates sounds resigned to losing to Jungles.

Top 5 so far looks encouraging for Dumoulin.

Does anyone else have to do the 5,4,3,2,1 countdown.

I always F it up, forgetting to go thumb back up on three. Very amateur.
