Hudson Hawk. Not a B movie by design yet has all of the ingredients on a big budget.

Same goes for Lake Placid which is also great and dire.

    Strictly B Movies:

    Fatal Flying Guillotine
    Attack of the Giant Leeches
    Godzilla vs Mothra

And that one (title escapes me) with the log cabin full of pretty females who are being stalked by Bigfoot

    In similar vein:

    Rubber is *fantastic*.

whilst not strictly B-Grade any John Carpenter movie, especially one with Kurt Russel, is a winner.

Escape from New York is one of my all-time favourite films. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it but it must be approaching three figures.

thanks to this thread, im gonna seek out Man Bites Dog for a watch. should be errr…. a laugh?

I’m sure you’ll be howling with lols at the brutally realistic depictions of rape and child murder 😕

It’s a great film, by the way but I have no idea why it’s mentioned here. It was a clever bit of satire in 1993, but considering the kind of voyeuristic reality tv, violent newsporn world we live in today it seems even more apt today. Maybe it’s lost some of it’s shock value, hence people finding it funny?

If something is carefully crafted to be tongue in cheek, kitsch, ironic, retro whatever….can it really be “terrible but great”

    Discourse.

I don’t know, but Kung Fury is brilliant. Triceracop should have his own spin off. The Penitentiary films, basically blaxploitation Rocky are definitely in so bad it’s good territory. Not sure if they are classed as B movies though. Slugs and Ankle Biters are both kinda amusing.

Any of the Troma films will fit the bill.

Low budget film about a girl turning into a werewolf during her time of the month – pretty much defines b movie doesn’t it.

Man Bites Dog is hilarious, assuming you like your humour very very dark.

Wasn’t there a sequel to Bad Taste which was slightly more mainstream?

Pig face has it all of the trim and films would fit the bit. Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town and Terror Firma are two of my favourites. Most of them are on the Troma YouTube channel too.

I saw a decent one a couple of years ago with zombies and strippers, but I can’t remember what it was called.

War of the Worlds – the original – with Ronald Reagan NOT the Z movie with Tom Cruise in it!

Was Hard Boiled a B Movie?

At the time it was a massive movie (by Hong Kong standards) with it’s two biggest stars and a superstar director. So I would say no. But you’re right, awesome film.

Really random British film where i’ve yet to meet anyone else that’s ever seen it:

Christie Malry’s own double entry, just sounds wrong until you realise it’s basis is in accounting, where he uses the principles of the double-entry system to settle his owns scores with various people in increasingly violent ways, starred a young Nick Moran, always remember it being surprisingly good

I’m not sure if it fits with B movie due to some of the cast, but Earth Girls are Easy is IMO just an absolute classic of what i consider to fit in with what he wants… funny.
