Have they cured the de-laminating issue?

    NOW COME WITH HARIBO!

And probably last just about the same length of time after you fit them!

Simple solution then – fit the haribo's into your calipers and eat the pads! 🙂

    NOW COME WITH HARIBO!

That must be to give you the extra energy yer need to file down the tabs on their 'Juicy' pads so they fit the bloody Avid calipers.

de laminating problem? you mean when they fall apart? i think they fixed that problem about a year and a half ago…and these sintered onse last long enough…but none of that is important cos they come with haribo!

what do you mean? i had a problem with trying to get a pair into my caliper a while ago…sent it back and the replacment fitted fine…i think the backing plate was too big to fit in the caliper….

My mate just tried a pair and they didn't last very long IIRC?

Apart from the fact they appear to be too thick to fit into some brakes?

Certainly my Formula Oro pads were.

Yeah, i took a load to the alps 2 years ago and they just fell apart after one run and after the 4th set and damaged discs i gave up. Hope they have cured this then as you said.

Not had a crap set in the last couple of years, sintered pads have been great, lasting just as well as the genuine avid ones

Got some in my Xt brakes at the moment, seem ok no probs yet, time will tell on how they last??

    And yes haribos'

sumtimes have problems fitting them into my brakes cos of their thickness…but they always fit eventually without alterations and last pretty long.

Yes I had a faulty pair back in the day

However I have used them since, in all weathers, and up and down real mountains and they have been excellent!

I will continue to use Superstar until the day they are run out of town by a horde of pitchfork wielding bike snobs.

All my SSC pads have worked very well, lasted the same if not longer than some fibrax ones I had.

Using the sintered pads in my Formula Oros with no problem so far. Same set (which are about 3/4 worn) have seen usage in the Trans-Wales, uplift day at Cwm Carn, Glentress, Ae, Inners, numerous wet Welsh trail centre rides, Surrey Hills over Christmas and two Brass Monkey enduros etc etc. Hence I have never understood how people wear out a set of pads in one ride. Saying that I'll end up buying another set and they'll last me 5 minutes!

    Mine have been great! 😛

I know a few people have an ethical dilema buying them, but the products good and there well priced. Service is good, and postage is quick. Might be time to forgive and move on…

SS sintered last ages and are a great product. They may have had problems in the past but no longer.

As far as I can tell nobody's had the delaminating problem for a very long time. I had one lose a chunk of braking surface but then I've had that with Shimano as well, it can happen, other than that they've done brilliantly. Can't see any reason to buy anything else tbh.

People having longevity issues are probably using the wrong pads, that's the drawback of being offered a choice, people will make the wrong one then blame the manufacturer for it 😉

had my front set of Superstar Avid Juicy Sintered pads de-laminate on Saturday riding DH.

they'd probably seen 20 months use tho.

As posted elsewhere, I used to swear by them but, since changing to Elixirs, I've really noticed a drop in performance compared to the original pads.

Anyone used the organic or kevlar ones??

Kevlar ones seem very good so far (one ride).

Sintered performing very well too on old XT and new SLX brakes.

No complaints about the product here.

had 2 sets of the original pads delaminate on the same ride which was a major ballache as i only had one set spare 😯 had 5 or 6 pairs since then tho and all been great – xt brakes, all weathers and lots of grit! think its reasonably safe to say the initial problems are sorted? and yes, got free haribo with my last order 😀

I'm running the Kevlar ones on Avid Elixers. Last pair lasted from August last year when I put them in just before the Selkirk Merida and have seen lots of use. Replaced them last week with the same.

Haribo is vile. You lot are cheaply bought.

I'm doing my best to avoid dredging up old history but I remember forswearing Superstar because of the less than engaging forum history of 'fruit'/Neil from SS.

Edit: I see Kit remembers the threads too.
