given numbers wil someone else bring somecan do
Rivington Barn http://www.rivingtonbarn.com it's a bikers site but has a map of Rivington Barn & some pictures
Welcome aboard, Colin. Now this is how a forum should be!
Hi Simon, add me to the list too.
Another group of us will be up there next Sunday.
Owt up to 15 riders I reckon.
Lowey, add Milemuncher to the list! Darwen Massive, innit.
Btw, owt 'cheeky' will be interesting with about 100 riders on it. It'll look like a Bogtrotters outing...
lowey - its still a definate possibility!! - should be 4 or might be 6 but I will let you know later in the week. Mind you I have to find a working bike from somewhere as mine is out of action and I broke the one I borrowed today
Will do John,
Might be worth missing the ride and just meeting up for the cakes
Might have another 2-4 of us to add to the list.
I'll let you know later in the week Lowey
The weather better be nicer than this weekend the wind was absolutely horrific over Belmont/Darwen way.... very hard work indeed including peddaling HARD downhill on roads at as much as 6 mph in places and not freewheeling anywhere!!!!.... did manage to plan some short cuts though....mainly based around sitting in pubs waiting for you to do the Darwen Loop. Trails generally pretty dry relatively so some more dry weather would be nice.
Cheers for the more cakes offer as well should be a super day out
i managed a quick hour local yesterday morning and it was pretty calm, when i got back i couldn't beleive how windy it was. I think someone needs to bring a trailer along for the amount of cakes needed, **** me. Should be a good day.
I'll be riding one of these, new niche..........bumped into this odd lad yesterday up there

liked his style knee/shin pads and no helmet safety conscious but up to a point ...he had just ridden down the path at the side of the dog kennels on this BTW.
Bloody heck! Reespec'!
Have you all remembered that clocks go forward sunday morning? so we'll be losing an hour of sleep....grumble grumble...bloody stupid BST.
Makes no difference if you have kids they will be up
Still could be worse MMMM babies and hangovers what a combination!!!
The only thing is DONK that we will have another hour at the other end.
Which given the number of folk going and the abundance of cake stops we will probably need.
Is anyone riding up from Astley Bridge area, will be setting of around 8.30 ish if you are.
Holy Sh!t... I didnt think this would attract so many people. Still, the more the merrier I suppose.
As mentioned previously, certain parts of this ride will be cheeky (and boggy), so if anyone has a problem with this, dont blame me. You have been warned.
Oh and DONK, we get an extra hour in bed, not loose one matey.
sorry Lowey, DONK is right
SPRING forward, FALL back
Dang! your right. Always trips me up that.
Wishful thinking I suppose.

If any of the Ramling fraternity complain we'll just tell em its a peaceful protest at the rambler-centric open access laws that oh-so conveniently exclude a whole load of other country side users from enjoying the English countryside.
So have you got a list of riders then lowey? Roll call?
I'll start a new thread on wednesday or thursday for a roll call.
Just ask certainties to post otherwise we could be hanging around for ages waiting for people to turn up mate.
Looking forward to remorselessly ripping the p!ss out of you Danny for the shed incident though.

or just tell em to **** off!!
TBH the redsocks round Rivvy are usually friendly and OK about bikes.
I'm not sure if they still will be with 2 dozen of us though.
I do like to push the envelope; rad, sic an all that - the shed was the only one that has left me broken tho
Hope the wind dies down for weekend, it was pure evil on sunday on Great Hill!
As for ramblers, I agree with vortex, always found them friendly
Barring some foreseeable calamity, MrsF and I will be there (where?) for a 10am start.
I gather that Mr Nettles will not be there.
Bottom Barn.. the top one is for Motorbikers plenty of parking round and about this area better to turnjunction opposite barn to find parking ...not into bottom barn parking area.
Was going to suggest all meet outside Rivington Hall, infront of the top barn.

There is so much parking there that we could be scattered all over the place. If we meet there that should be fine.
fair enough happy to meet at your house then
The garden is never that big has it been photoshopped?
From my map above it is just straight up to the top of the road opposite the lower barn.
Park somewhere and cycle up.
Can we all wear name badges too? ;0)
