    Looking to get involved in this strava business and was thinking about gettin a garmin 305 forerunner off eBay. Anyone used one of these to up load to strava or is it a running specific watch?

    Yep, I use a 110 & it works fine.

    Anything that produces a .gpx file is compatible, i.e. pretty much every GPS ever produced.
