The weather was looking like it was going to be a washout but the sacrifices came good and the sun shone at times and the rain kept away.
Excellent job Gil, Ian, Jon, Mark and the others.
Course was ace too although I hurt now from the effort.

Was a good weekend out, good crowd of 'misfits'. Course well thought out and plenty of stuff to keep you interested all the way round. Beer shower halfway through second lap was unexpected ! Huge thanks to everyone who organised it. Wales next year...

You should have stopped for one! Sorted my legs out to get me going again on the second lap.

Did they announce the venue for next year?

    Wales. South I think.

    Course data.
    8.04miles 316m climbing
2 hours dead to do 2 laps for me.

Felt very rough after the night before. Nearly being sick as it was.... 2 or 3 minutes behind you.

Another big thank you to the organisers, had a cracking time even if my time to do a single lap was more than it took the winners to finish 2! But then I did dawdle at the beer stop for a while..

And I still can't believe how lucky we were with the weather!

Great weekend, excellent ride out, not as epic as 2008 but good fun

    race course was very good

organisation was great except the portaloos started backing up by early Sun morning otherwise pretty faultless

excellent beer on tap the SSUK 09 brew was lethal, shame about the large group in the beer tent who decided that they didn't have to support the bar on Saturday night but I'm sure eveyone else made up for their lack of support

    Rollapalusa makes you ill!

and that beer was way to strong for soft southern shandy drinking ssers.
and tweed hats and clothing should be burned, hopefully on the twunts wearing it..........

A great weekend, could not fault any of it.
Course was techically harder than I expected, can anyone tell me how does it compare with previous ones?
Not complaining BTW, I enjoyed the laps, just interested whether that is the normal level.

Anyway well done to everyone, most specially well done to the organisers an absolutely brilliant job.

thanks gil, did your bike turn up? rickk, i thought drumlanrig was way more technical but both events were very good. who won it?

    Posted 2 years ago #
  21. tomlevell - Member

Harder than Hamsterley technically and assuming the Aviemore course was similar/same as the world champs course on a par with that.
I have to admit to walking down the new rock bit at the bottom of the cross cliff descent although that was flipping hard in disco shoes. Not on that bike or with my hands so close to my £5 and a puncture would have lost me it.

That's looks brilliant...will try and get over for that next yr.
The course looked cool, and tavern time too, supreme.

Bit of a geeky observation this:
John Climber in yo 1st pic there's a nice Green DeKerf (I ride the same), it appears to running disc brakes on the back - how' that done?

Fantastic weekend, my first SSUK and not my last. Good pub ride and entertainment, rollapoluza hurts and seems to slow down time, 25seconds never lasted so long Course was superb, properly technical. Loved it. Thanks to all organisers. Think I'll have a rest from the bike tomorrow!

Had a wonderful time, nice to see some familiar faces like tony and matt.

I'm knackered now- came 4th (same as last year, oddly, but the guys in 1st and 2nd were a bit fitter!) and could do with a sleep.
