I've had to space my chainring ti run my MRP.1 on my Noir SS Chainset.
The chainline 51 on the Noir and the MRP is designed for 49-50. Damn the small print!. I've spaced my chainring off the tabs in towards the frame to get it to run, but now i'm a little concerned about the weight transfer onto the bolts. I'm running steel ones with decent length so it's pretty evenly spread.
Anyone else done this? I normaly run it SS all the time but i've gone 1 x 9 for Bontrager
space out from the chain device or is that too simple?
Can't space the device over its got a notch system on the back to keep it inline. Also fits behind the BB so can't space it that way.
what about the spacers it comes with? where are you meant to put them if you cannot space it out
It comes with a 1mm nylon spacer for the top bolt into the device to give the 49/50mm chain line, then the spacers that i've fitted are designed to be used with standard length crank bolts to take up the excess.
The device is fitted correctly and wasn't the point in the post. It's not designed to run the chain line my chainset gives.
Will the chain bolts take the strain was the question?
If the chainline is only 1mm out then the 3mm chainring spacers you have added are OTT.
I presume you have fitted it next the bottom bracket cup, ie. no spacer in between?
Your still only looking at taking up an additional 1mm on top of the 1mm supplied spacer, the sliding tab on the back is more than long enough to stand another 1mm. Try using plastic like a margarine tub as spacers, you can craft one just using scissors. Be careful to check the bolt is long enough to engage the nylock section of the nut as they are close for length.

Yeah had looked at smaller spacers but rubbed like a bugger in the lower 2-3 gears so went with the bigger ones. Trip to B&Q in the morning to see if i can find the right size ones. If i can get a bit on the lip i'll be happy
My MRP always rubs in either extremes of gearing but with it being plastic you don't notice it.
I now actually run a 9sp cassette but with the smallest cog removed, and a spacer behind the biggest cog to take up the slack. I get a better chainline and with a larger chainring I find the gear spread perfect.
Hope you get it sorted. I wouldn't bother with B&Q though, you need a washer that is big in size to help keep the cage stable, but needs to be M4 so any off the peg are likely to be too small and made of metal so difficult to trim. I lost my spacer but found a lid off a ice-cream lid is much better as you can shape it to fit around the sliding tab.
Is that a lynksey built frame? If so you won't be the only rider at Bontrager who usually rides a SS Lynskey but has swapped the dropouts to run 1x9 specially for the event using a MRP 1x9 chain-guide! Shimano cranks all the way for me though, simples 
Just to confirm, I'm talking about putting the chainring back in the right position, and spacing out the guide.
Personally I wouldn't worry about the chainring bolts though (unless the Noir has carbon tabs like the race face one's featured on http://www.bikefix.net). I would however spin them around so the female part comes through the ring, spacer and hopefully most of the tab too to resist any possible twisting.
Funny enough its a Ragley, but randomly a mate runs a Lynskey 29er and has also swapped for 1 x 9 for Bonty 12 solo but he's had no faff at all as he's running a MRP with a XTR chainset.
Which event are you doing?
Yeah mine works fine with an XTR chainset on a Lynskey Ridgeline SS! (I have to use a full length gear outer zip-tied to the frame as there are no cable bosses) Common as muck eh!

look out for the bolt on the MRP - it's made of Ali and is easily knackered!
