Sorry. But I’ve used the search and it’s coming up with nothing. I’ve tried looking through my history, but still no joy.

I was reading a thread on here this morning about someone trying to lose weight and some diet advice, not iDave. Some of the advice was strong coffee, squares of dark chocolate and 3 or 4 plates of leafy veg. It will make sense to someone????????

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

Not sure it’s on the forums, but it is in this month’s magazine in the fitness Q&A thingy.

Not a diet per se, but a how to lose weight as part of a general lifestyle choice.

    HTH!

    • Eat three dinner plates of brous vegetables (grown above
ground) in a variety of colours but mostly green, every day.
    • Eat protein with every meal especially breakfast. Focus on Fish,
    game, poultry and organic eggs.
    • Do short duration high intensity exercise, don’t stay at the gym
for more than 20 minutes but better still, get outside and do it.
    • Drink a strong black coee once a day (the earlier the better).
    • Have three or four squares of very dark chocolate every day.
    • Keep yourself moving all the time.
    • Use a standing desk.
    • Sit on a Swiss ball instead of a chair.
    • Use the stairs at every opportunity.
    • Walk to work or park further away or get o the bus early.
    • Get as much sunshine as you can without burning.
    • Practice deep breathing.

    Oooo.
    😯

don’t stay at the gym for more than 20 minutes
No way I can get through my bike and weights in 20 mins 🙁

Keep yourself moving all the time.
    Eerrr….

Sit on a Swiss ball instead of a chair
A guy in our office use to do this.
Then H and S came along a told him he couldn’t sit on the ball and that he had to use a chair.
Way OTT in my opinion, H and S gone mad, again.

Use the stairs at every opportunity
    Aye, I do this.

If you see anyone with a nasty chest infection, go get it off them. I lost 6kgs in about 10days with some kind of bronchitis.
Still down 4kgs and keeping it off 🙂

    Does wonders to your climbing!

The Wife looks at me like I’m a dullard when I use the stairs rather then the lift or escalator. I try to use the stairs at work. 4 floors, so 8 flights and 10-12 steps on each. Can’t do it all day. I have to go up and down about 20-30 times a day!

I’m properly overweight and my doctor thinks I’m lying when I’ve done a food diary. Low fat protein, fish, rice, pasta, salads, lots of fruit and veg. Skimmed milk. Lots of water, no energy drinks or gels. I do like bread and cake though. The problem is I’m still eating the quantity of carbs I was 2 years ago when I was cycle commuting about 140 miles a week. I could cycle now but at 1.5 hours each way, big hills in the FOD, plus a 12 hour day, it’s not physically possible.

Time for a job closer to home me thinks.

Thanks for the mag pointers. I’ll get it out of my bag and read it at lunch time.

don’t stay at the gym for more than 20 minutes

This I excel at!, typically undercutting that figure by 20 minutes.

I [on and off] use MyFitnessPal.com as a food and exercise diary
I know then if I’m starting to pig out too much – rather than guessing – and then decide if I want to do anything about it 🙂

Yep, the longer I stay at the gym, the fatter I get.

To be honest, I am not sure I could manage that!

    I am definately the same.
If I tried that, I’d suffer green leaf madness.

    Use a standing desk.

Is there such a thing? Would my company provide one on non-medical grounds? Do I need to use it forever, or just until I move onto the next fad diet?
What an absolutely pointless piece of “dietry advice” that is.

There are what I consider to be significant differences.
What I’d point out is that ime, there are generally two phases to all this stuff.

    The weight loss phase.

    The weight maintenance phase.

Your dietary choices may vary slightly, according to which phase you are in ????.
