I’m the ranger that looks after the Prestwich area and I’d noticed it had died, apparently it was a combination of young people and adults who took it upon themselves to jump up and down till it collapsed. It is probably not impossible to repair but it would probably be more expensive than the original structure. It needs winching up as it has given way at the bank (it was originally a windblown poplar that had not fully up rooted. Where the four legs attached to the trunk, is now rotten, so would need metal pinning to have any hope of survival and then not for long given the level of rot in the body.
