Anyone any thoughts on Shimano MW80 sizing?

I have a pair of Shimano summery SPD shoes (M122 I think) which fit nicely with one pair of socks on, but are a wee bit tight with sealskinz on too. Do I need to go one size higher with MW80s?

From what I’ve gleemed from others on here, you need to jump up at least one size.

I wear Shimano MP66 45’s and bought the MW80 46 and they’re too big.

I went up one size, compared to my shimano M122 SPD.

Thats cos the MP66 are trainer style, the ‘up one size’ is a guide compared to ‘race’ style SPD’s

BTW for me the seller has been great and very helpful.

I find Shimano sizing is spot on.

I normally take a UK 10½ – 11 in pretty much everything
I needed a 48 in MW80s to allow for an extra pair of socks

I have tried a few shimano shoes. I take a size 8 in most traiers, occasionally a 7. 7 1/2 in smart shoes. Slightly narow feet.

MT21 (8/42) = spot on
MW80 (8/42) = much too small
MW80 (9/43) = ?
MT90 (8/42) = slightly too small
MT91 (9/43) = too big

Specialized Defroster (8/42) = spot on

Lake MXZ302 (8/42) = good but wide ankle

Scott disco slippers (7/41) = slightly too small

HTH someone as a basis for comparison!!

Im a 10 1/2 in shoes 46 in most shimano shoes but recently mw 80’s
included needed a 47, feet must be getting bigger as i age or change

I’ll say small. I usually take size 44 in cycling shoes, including the Shimano MT30’s that I have got, but went for a size 46 in the MW80’s, and even then I feel they’re rather snug – no room for thick Sealskinz, but hopefully in the depths of winter I won’t need Sealskinz anyway.

True, but then I’ve never found clothing that claims to be waterproof to really be 100% waterproof. Waterproof socks under waterproof shoes can’t do any harm.

they are fairly waterproof if you stand in a puddle but if you think your feet will be dry if you go out riding in the rain think again! just like every other boot the water will just run down your leg/lycra and soak your feet. sure they will still be warmer.
I really like mine though, 2nd winter on.
dont event get me started on my non waterproof event jacket. basically i’ve found nothing bike related to be truly waterproof.

Stif currently have these for £110 as well. Not quite as good a deal obviously, just thought I’d say.

I find shimano shoes to be spot on sizewise.

The shimano mt90 winter boots i have were bought one size bigger and i manage to fit in an extra pair of insoles and thick merino socks with a nice amount of space left to stop the chill setting in.
This just shows how big they are when i move up a size.They were bought big to get extra insoles in on purpose! They are the best shoes ive had in winter and were used at least once a week over last years bad winter in the snow. so warm but i have to admit they did chill a bit around -7c and below. Thats not anything to complain about though.

Out this morning in absolute filth and rain and came home
with warm dry feet:)
